Address by the Dean on the Safety Campaign Day at School of Engineering <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n August 2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n This is Setoguchi, Dean of School of Engineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Today is the day for safety campaign at School of Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Twenty-seven years ago today, the 10th of August in 1992, a tragic accident took away the precious lives of an assistant professor and a doctor course student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This accident is believed to be caused by oxygen deficiency due to large quantities of nitrogen generated from liquid nitrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On this occasion, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the two colleagues who passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n School of Engineering took this accident seriously and designated this day as \u201cSafety Campaign Day\u201d resolving to keep the school a safe place for education and research with strict safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I would like you to reflect on yourself whether you maintain safety awareness at daily experiments and works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following manuals or work procedures is indispensable to conduct experiments and works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, it is necessary for everyone to choose and implement the best method depending on the situation.
