Address by the Dean on the Safety Campaign Day at the School of Engineering<\/p>\n
This is HABAZAKI Hiroki, Dean of the School of Engineering.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow, August 10th is the day for safety campaign at School of Engineering.<\/p>\n
32 years ago, the 10th of August in 1992, a tragic accident took away the
\nprecious lives of an assistant professor and a doctor course student.<\/p>\n
This accident is believed to be caused by oxygen deficiency due to large
\nquantities of nitrogen generated from liquid nitrogen.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the two
\ncolleagues who passed away and to their families.<\/p>\n
The School of Engineering took this accident seriously and designated August
\n10 as the \u201cSafety Campaign Day\u201d resolving to keep the school a safe place for
\neducation and research with strict safety measures.<\/p>\n
Safety and health management does depend on your daily attention.
\nI call on you to be constantly aware of risks in your experiments and work
\nas well as to always keep safety in mind. Choosing and implementing the best
\nmethods will be tremendously helpful in establishing safety.<\/p>\n
We will continue to ceaselessly engage in various activities centered on the
\nSafety and Health Office to ensure that we can safely conduct education and
\nresearch.<\/p>\n
